Dr. Akella is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Hospital Medicine. He has been in practice since 1998 and joined Orlando Internal Medicine in 2001. He trained in internal medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He is an elected Fellow of the American College of Physicians and is also a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine.

Dr. Akella is actively involved in local hospitals, including acute care and long-term acute care hospitals as well as skilled nursing facilities. He currently serves as the Assistant Medical Director for The Commons at Orlando Luthern Towers.
